Announcements

On 9/20/2024, the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office received a tip from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in reference to a NEW post on the social media site "Snapchat". Sheriff Jason Ard says, ‘This post had a photo attached of a male juvenile holding a weapon standing in front of a door. The caption on the photo stated potential harm to Live Oak High School.’

An agent with the FBI was able to obtain an address for the user who shared about our local schools via Snapchat. Sheriff Ard says, ‘The address was registered to a Denham Springs family. Overnight, contact was made.’
A 13 year old juvenile is now in custody and in the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center. He is charged with LRS 14:40.1 Terrorizing

What we know:
• The Livingston Parish juvenile was NOT the person in the image • • This image was obtained on social media & the Livingston Parish student shared it
• Social Media posts that warn of planned school shootings are circulating
• Our Law Enforcement Partners across the country are seeing the same posts & are also investigating
• DO NOT SHARE on social media INSTEAD report it to local authorities
• You can submit tips via our LPSO App under our ‘Submit A Tip’ button
• When a threat is found to be credible, we’ll alert you like we are doing now

Sheriff Jason Ard says, ‘Let it be known that these posts/comments are taken very seriously. We have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy when it comes to our children’s safety. We are watching. Our local law enforcement partners are watching - including the FBI.

Parents, you really need to talk to your children about what they are posting. AGAIN, WE HAVE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY IN PLACE.‘
*Special thanks to the FBI for its assistance on this case. **Special thanks to Livingston Parish Public School leaders for continuing to work closely with us. LPPS also has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy in place
